Black Lodge Press is an ongoing print project by Cj – inspired by DIY queer culture, working class history and anarchist politics.
A lot of Cj’s creative output has been influenced by political banners, the visual language of activism and direct action.
The use of Risograph print was picked up from DIY community spaces and personal experiments: “DIY spaces are the most precious things that we have because they exist to be able to for us to produce art in a way that isn’t affected by the soul sapping power of capitalism,” he says.
The vast majority of Black Lodge zines are printed by Footprint Workers Cooperative who are based in Leeds. They’re run as a co-op based on radical politics and sustainable, ethical practice. All paper/card is recycled and all inks are ecologically safe.
