Untold Narrative I, Dungeness

Fire Etching—Aburidashi on Somerset paper, signed limited edition of 5, available framed in a stained oak frame, or unframed. Artwork size 145mm x 60mm, frame size 285 x 205mm.

Aburidashi is the process of rendering an image using an invisible ink made from lemon juice. This alters the chemical balance of the paper, and on exposure to heat the image is burnt into the surface.  This ancient Japanese method of secret communication is integral to both Kaori’s practice and to the meaning of her work.
