Tasha Craig

Tasha Craig is a craftswoman based in south Devon with a background in 3D art & design. Her craft practise is centred around tactility, utility and sculptural form, with woodworking and brushmaking her central practices.

Utility is as important as form in her work. Each object must have a purpose. That purpose can be minimal such as a vase that holds one treasured stem, or the simplicity of a well-made brush made from plant based fibres.

Her woodwork is sculpted by hand into playful soft shapes and curves. Each piece has a tactile quality, a texture to connect with through touch. Nature is vital to her work in terms of the materials used. Tasha loves finding local timbers and using only plant-based fibres when making brushes. That connection to material via touch and use is focused on the end users experience. Showing great respect to our homes by adding these natural handmade touches is a nod to our humanity in a world that is ever more digital. Each piece made is to be held and treasured in the same way we are drawn to collect a pebble from a beach.
