Counting Grid 37

Acrylic paint, acrylic ink and coloured pencil on watercolour paper, measures 560mm x 760mm.

Artist’s statement
A regular grid is drawn in coloured pencil on paper. Free hand brush strokes are then applied at regular intervals or ‘counts’, working from left to right and top to bottom like words on a page of text or musical notes on a stave. Two rhythms are superimposed or shown side by side, creating a third more complex pattern through interaction.
