Who we are

We are Mary Claire and Rob, and we are FRANK. Our hybrid shop/gallery space is in an eighteenth-century fisherman’s cottage, near the harbour in Whitstable, Kent. We opened our doors in June 2006.

Our collection reflects our passion for the handmade and the artisanal with a focus on individual creatives—contemporary crafters, artists and printmakers—working sustainably and using ethical means of production. We are particularly passionate about the creative scene on the north Kent coast.

It is the stories behind the objects and the creativity of the makers that serve as our inspiration. Mats and baskets handwoven from English bulrush gathered in punts along the river Ouse; black clay, raku fired, ceramic houses inspired by abandoned Hebridean crofts; raw honey collected from beehives on London rooftops; catapaults and brushes made with traditional handtools, using hardwood foraged in coppiced woodlands in Buckinghamshire; an independent publisher using traditional spot-litho printing. Provenence, usefulness and beauty are our watchwords.
