July 22, 2013 Fresh Catch

Well it seems summer has finally announced itself, and here in Whitstable that means it’s very nearly time for the Oyster Festival. At Frank we’re celebrating by showcasing some of our artists, all with prints depicting aspects of the sea.

Both James Brown and Flowers & Fleurons Vintage Letterpress tackle the Shipping Forecast. Both, we think, are alive to the rhythmic allure of their subject, the beauty in those oft-heard places: Tyne, Dogger, Fisher…

Meanwhile Simon Tozer, a Frank regular, rejoices in the poetic names of the lightships that trawl our waters, or with The Waverley the pleasure-craft that, on Summer days like these, ease out into the Thames estuary with excited pleasure-seekers aboard.

We’re delighted to welcome Tom Frost to Frank with his super maritime themed images that lean on traditional matchbox designs.

And finally, Clare Halifax is showing two of her Whitstable prints: the Harbour and the Quayside, thus rounding off our Oyster Festival window. Come on over, if you can. Visit our website, if you can’t.
