Monoprints by Pat Macdonald

We are so pleased to be showing these magical works by Whitstable based artist and illustrator, Pat Macdonald, that employ monoprint techniques to play with colour and balance, exploring new angles and forms. Pat says he enjoys the freshness of this technique, the gamble of the unexpected alongside the intentional.

Pat graduated with a first class honours degree in 2014 from UCL/Camberwell in Illustration. He then went on to study on the Postgraduate Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School where he won the Paragon Press printing prize in 2021.

This was followed by residences in Dumphries, Scotland and Topolski Studios on the South Bank, London.

Heading back to Kent after a decade in the city he now draws and makes prints in Whitstable and Margate.

A creative enthusiasm infuses him in diverse ways: from commissions for album covers, t-shirt designs, murals, editorial work and publishing two volumes of accomplished poetry all alongside his daily practice of drawing and printing.

He has exhibited widely since 2009, including The Linden Hall Winter Show, Deal; Festival of Cats, Pie Factory, Margate; Christies Lates: Picasso, a 50-Year Legacy; Loser Gang ‘Happy Heads’ The Salon, Margate; Zine and Book Fair, EINA University School of Art & Design, Barcelona; UE Underground Etc, Mediterranean festival of comics, Naples and Royal Drawing School Exhibition, Christies, London.

The show continues until 15th November. All works are for sale.

Our opening hours are Monday through to Saturday 10.30–17.00; Sunday 11.00–17.00. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
